Hello Monterey Park Families 

Finally some warmer weather! We hope you are out enjoying the sunshine. Our playground will be muddy and wet for the next while. If your child has rubber boots, they will help them stay dry. 

Please see our note below regarding parent volunteers. With the warmer weather, many teachers would like to take their classes on field trips, but we do require parent assistance for these excursions. If you can help us out, please follow the directions below. 

The Alberta Government has changed transportation regulations for the upcoming 2025-26 school year. As a result, MPS bell times will change very slightly. See below.

Our spring performance for Div I students called Once Upon a Song will be May 14. Free tickets will be available for online ordering starting April 28.

CBE Student Survey for Grades 5/6

2025-26 School Bell Times

For the upcoming school year, the CBE will be expanding yellow bus service and adjusting walk zones. This is in response to Alberta Education's School Transportation Amendment Regulation for student transportation that comes into effect on Sept. 1, 2025. This means many more students will become eligible to take the bus. To accommodate this change, Monterey Park’s bell times will change slightly. Our new bell times, starting in September 2025 will be:

Volunteers

We require parent volunteers to help out with field trips throughout the last few months of the school year. Please note that you do require a valid security clearance to accompany a class on a trip. If you are able to help us out, please see Margaret in the office to get your clearance started and check in with your child’s teacher to see if they can use you. There are lots of exciting things planned for the spring. We hope you can join us.

Outdoor School

Our Grade 6 students are busy preparing for a few days in the wilderness as they attend Outdoor School next week from April 14-17. For many, this is their first time camping and being away from home overnight. Outdoor School is a valuable opportunity for students to connect with peers and develop outdoor skills before heading off to junior high. We are sure their experience will be a memorable one!
