Hello Monterey Park Families,

We are wishing you all prosperity and good wealth as we enter this phase of celebrating the Lunar New Year. Today is also Pink Shirt Day, and we will be sprinkling kindness around the building. Please remember that Friday, February 27 is a PD Day. There will be no school for students.

Lunar New Year

February 23–27 is Lunar New Year Week at MPS. Students will be working in their school buddy groups to create visual art that will showcase the beauty of this celebration. Students are invited to wear red. Families are welcome to join us for a Lunar New Year Art Walk on Thursday, February 26 at 11 AM.

School Council

Our next School Council meeting is Thursday, February 26 at 6 PM. We will be reviewing the School Development Plan and fee reports. This is a good opportunity for parent voice and feedback about our school goals. Kelly will be speaking about the government initiative to address complex classrooms and the additional resources we will be provided. Come and talk with us. We hope to see you there.

Holi

We will celebrate Holi on Wednesday, March 4 at MPS. Much like last year, students will be participating in some colourful mural creation. Ms. Kelly has ordered coloured powder this year as well, so don’t be surprised if your children come home looking a little different. (This powder is non-toxic and will not stain clothing.)
