Hello Monterey Park Families, What is your story? At Monterey Park School this year, we are exploring STORY and asking ourselves the big question, “What is Our Story?” Students will be learning about themselves, their peers, their school and their community while exploring concepts through oral storytelling. We would like family involvement in this work. Please take a minute and fill out this 3 minute survey. We will use the information to help us bring story alive in Monterey Park throughout this whole school year.
If you require assistance, please let us know.

School Council
Our first Fun Lunch will be on October 17 and school council needs parents to help distribute pizza to all students. If you can assist with this between 11:30-1:30 on October 17, please email miranda_mountain@hotmail.com and let her know. No security clearance is required for this activity.
Next Meeting: October 23 at 6:00pm. Babysitting available in gym.
Home Reading at MPS
Students in Grades 1-3 will be starting a Home Reading program on October 15.
Each week, your child will come home with a coloured book bag, with 2-3 books in it. Your child will have a designated day each week to return their books and get new ones to bring home. Reading together for 10-15 minutes a day at home will ensure your child grows their reading skills.
Tips for Parents
1. Sit with your child once per day to read for 10-15 mins.
2. Only return your child’s book bag on your designated Home Reading day.
3. Be excited about your child’s reading.
4. Take very good care of the book bag - it is a treasure to last the whole school year. Helping your child with reading.
Thank you to School Council for purchasing our very special book bags - one for every student! We love books!
